Marcus Whitfield grew up in Houston’s East End, and he spent eight years loading trucks and running crews for a big Texas van line before he’d had enough of watching neighbors get gouged on the most stressful day of their year. In 2013 he started his own flat-rate outfit with one truck and a simple promise: tell folks the real price up front, show up on time, and handle their belongings like family. That’s still how we run House Moving Houston today.
We’re a licensed, insured, family-run company based right downtown on Smith Street. We’re not a referral site and we don’t hand your move off to someone else. When you book us, our crew shows up in our trucks, in our uniforms, and we pack, load, drive, and unload everything ourselves.
How We Work
The biggest stress in any move is the bill at the end. We take that off the table with flat-rate written quotes — the number we give you is the number you pay. Local jobs start at $119/hr for a two-mover crew with the truck, blankets, and dollies included, but for most moves we’ll put a firm flat price in writing so there are no clock-watching surprises.

Meet the Crew
Tanya Brooks runs our office and is usually the first voice you’ll hear when you call. Devin Carter handles dispatch and keeps every truck on schedule. Out in the field we run three crew chiefs: Hector Salazar leads our piano and specialty-item moves and is fully bilingual in English and Spanish; Andre Coleman heads up long-distance and interstate jobs; and Rosa Mendez specializes in apartment and condo moves and also speaks English and Spanish. Behind them is a team of about ten movers, fifteen of us in all, most of whom have been with Marcus for years.
